What a fantastic first half term it has been for me. It has been busy with Open Evening (a packed and enjoyable night) the completion of our new 3G floodlit pitch, on-going building work and getting to know our staff, students and parents.

I’ve really enjoyed it and now know my way around the school! There’s a lot that is great and some things I want to change and improve. Number one on my hit list is a look at our dining facility. I’d like us to go ‘cashless’ as soon as we can and we are looking at developing a ‘Grab and Go’ sandwich ordering facility to cut queuing. Watch this space!

All in all it has been great getting to know the staff, governors, students and parents and some key member of our community (for instance, the Mayor, other local Headteachers, some of our Business Mentors and our local Police Officer).

We have real support within our wider community and the fact that an ex-Mark Rutherford School student has funded a new 3G floodlit pitch is testament to the connection people locally have to the school.

I am looking forward to the next half term and all that it brings!
